Solar Cooker Project

My Solar Cooker

Question and Hypothesis
My Question is "Will the lever increase the temperature?"
My Hypothesis is that the lever will increase the temperature.
Procedure
1. Collected all necessary items to build my solar cooker.
2. Built my solar cooker.
3. Took outside and put in the shade for ten minutes.
4. Checked it's temperature, which was at seventy degrees F.
5. Took it out of the shade and placed it within a good angle to get sunlight.
6. I put it in the sun for ten minutes checking it's temperature every two minutes.
7. Made my adjustments and took the lever off.
8. Put it in the shade for ten minutes, outside.
9. Took it out of the shade and put it in sunlight.
10. Let it be in the sun for ten minutes, after two minutes checking its temperature each time.

Conclusion
The conclusion to this project is that the lever increased the teperature of the solar cooker. My Hypothesis was correct. The lever was one more thing that my solar cooker could use to reflect sunlight off of, especially since the lever was facing towards the can. I believe the more items you put on your solar collecter that reflet sunlight, the better.
Discussion
Mining creates pollution in the air and in the water. Without the proper care, when burning coal it can release carbon dioxide into the air. The mining companies have been able to let less sulfur leave the mining grounds but solar energy is a lot better to use. All you really need is sunlight. It's better for the people, animals, plants, and many more.
I think Mr. Tubbs had us test our projects twice to confirm our information. It's always good to check things twice because everyone makes mistakes. Also, we need to compare with other students but either one of us could have different answers.
One of my observations was very intresting. Without out the lever the temperature only increased 2 or 3 degrees when it enter the 90's. However, with the lever it would increase at 20 plus degrees at a time.
My infrence is that the lever increased the temperature because it was another thing that can be used to reflect the sunlight off of.
I had a very good time doing this project and learned a lot from my research
