Solar Collecter

Question and Hypothesis
My question was which background will work better, foil, or black paper.
My hypothesis was that the foil would work better because the sun rays would bounce off it and reflect into the container with the thermometer inside. I didn't think that the black paper would be better because it just got hot inside and didn't reflect any sun to the thermometer.
Procedures
1. We studied and researched the diffrent types of solar cookers and thought up a question and hypothesis. We learned about how solar cookers work and what kind of designs there are. We also picked a type of cooker we wanted and read about how to build it.
2. We gathered the supplies that we needed and following the design, we built our cookers.
3.Then, we took our cookers outside and put them in the shade for 5 minutes. We then recorded the tempature of the shaded time Then we put the cooker in the sun for ten minutes, on two minutes intervals, we checked and recoreded the tempeture on a "T chart".

Conclusion
My conclusion was that even though my hypothesis said foil would be better then black paper, the black paper actually got more heat and better results. The highest tempature for the foil was 105 degrees, when the black papers final tempeture was 122 degrees. The diffrence in the tempeture change for the foil background was 37 degrees. But the change from the black background was 44 degrees.
Discussion
Solar energy is useful to prevent pollution because you don't have to use coal and use up natural resorces. One observation that I made after the test is that foil bounces off sun, but if it isn't pointed directly at the thermometer, it isn't as useful. Also the black paper attracts heat so the cooker heats up and the tempeture of the thermometer raises. So my inference would be that the black paper is a better backgound for solar energy cookers.

Photosynthesis

Plants make their anergy from photosynthesis. A process that makes the food (gluclose) out of these three ingredents: water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide. This process also helps make oxegyn, thats the air that we breathe. If plants didn't have photosynthesis, they wouldn't be able to live.
