The Yanomami people may lose their forest in the future. When roads were built many loggers came in and cut down large areas of trees. The recent incline in soy farming made things worse. Many loggers were cutting down the forest, and miners for their gold. The Global Market for soy went up when more roads and towns were built and more farmers came in. Diseases such as malaria, influenza, and whooping cough caused the villagers lives. In 1991 Brazil set aside 36,000 square miles of land for the Yanomami people.
