Matt's Solar Cooker Blog!

Hyopothesis: My hypothesis is that when  tested with foil that my solar cooker will be hotter than with black paper.

Procedure:
First I researched solar cookers and the designs. Next I made a rough draft of my solar cooker and gathered the materials needed. Finally I went outside to test the solar cooker and get my baseline temperature.

Results: This represents my experiment blue stands for the temperature with foil and red for black paper.

undefined

Conclusion: In my observations I realized that the sun needed to be over my cooker when using the foil so it would reflect the heat. But, with the paper it didn't matter as much since the paper took in sunlight and didn't need the sun shining upon a specific spot. A question that aroused during my suspision of the observation being correct was that if the black, metal pan was removed would it cause the temperature to go up or down? In conclusion my hypothesis was correct, the black paper didn't heat up the solar cooker as much as the foil did. The reason being that the black paper only absorbs heat while the foil reflects the light toward the pan.

I think that solar energy is a contribute to society because predicted by Stephen Hawking by 2600 the world will be set shoulder to shoulder and the electricity will cause the earth to be red hot. There is also the matter of pollution that will cause the world to be exposed to UV rays.
