The cluttered old basement was filthy and scummy. The air smelled like mold, and you could hear rats scurrying through the shelves. The air in the room was musty and as thick as fog. The annoyingly creaky locker doors were rusty and wide open. Jagged wood was piled into the middle of the floor, leaving a dusty stench. Some pieces of the wood were tumbling down the pile, leaving a small, quiet thud.
