My thoughts on Blogging in the Classroom

I liked using the computers a lot when we blogged.  I think it was a lot of fun to do.  It was also fun having our very own web page.  But the one thing I liked best was the "Langauge arts" Blog.  One of the reasons why is because everybody just kept on adding such strange things and changing it's color.
I liked pretty much everything about blogging except for one thing.  And that is because we weren't allowed to use the smilies except for the Language Arts Blog.
I think my writing has improved a little.  This is not really because of the lessons we were taught in class.  It is partly from reading other people's entries and seeing their way of writing.  So I was able to learn how to write in different ways from that.
I think that we should be able to use the smilies more often.  We should also do more fun writing assignments, and more of the collective stories.  Both of these things could help make blogging more fun.

Summary Part #3!!!!

Concerned people are fighting against the loss of the Amazon rain forest.  Hundreds of years ago, the Yanomami people started settling in the Amazon Rain forest.  In the 1960s, other poor families began settling in the Rain Forest.  This brought in many roads, sawmills, and loggers.  In 1991, the Yanomami received 36,000 square miles of land from the Brazilian government.  In the year 2004 alone, almost 10,000 square miles of the rain forest had already been cut down.  Over the years, experts say that about twenty percent of the Amazon rain forest has been destroyed.  Soy farming is making things in Brazil even worse then before.  When soy farming, the land gets cleared out, and destroys even more land.  The Amazon Region Protected Area, (ARPA) and the WWF are helping to protect the rain forest.  Together, they are now protecting twelve percent of this land, which is about the size of California.

Dear Mrs. Martin,

My name is Olivia, and I am writing to you because I read a book you wrote called P.S. Longer Letter Later.  I really enjoyed reading this because it was very well written.

I also enjoyed this book because it is very realistic, and I feel I can relate to it in a few ways.  I would also like to thank you for writing P.S. Longer Letter Later.  It gave me great pleasure to actually sit down, and read this book.

I was wondering, what made you want to write this book?  Did something related to this book happen to you when you were a child?

Thanks again for writing P.S. Longer Letter Later!  I really loved it!

Sincerely,

Olivia

Directions!

How to get from Mr. Tubbs class to Mrs. Dennys Room

You will need to walk from room 201 to the strings music room, room 110.  You will be going there to play your instrument, and want to get there as soon as possible.  This will take about one minute and twenty seconds to get to you destination.

* Turn left and go down twenty-four steps.

* Start walking strait, and soon you will pass the computer lab.

* Keep going down the hallway until you see room 105.  When you see this room, turn left and start walking down the hallway.

* Go past the library door, on the left.

* Stop at the drinking fountain, and immediately turn left.  Go through the door, and start walking through the tunnel.

* Pass the trashcan, and go down the hall.

* Stop right before you pass the stairs.

* Go through the double doors on the left.

* You will see a brick-walled hallway.  Go down it.  It will take approximately twenty-six steps to get down the hallway.

* In the hallway, you will pass three windows on your left side.

* Go through the two white doors, and start walking straight down the hallway.

* Once you have passed three doors, one on the left, and two on the right, you will see another door.  This door is room 110.  Go into it.

* Now you can play your instrument!

Thank you letter

3/08/06

Dear Marie,

Thanks so much for taking me to Perfect North last Friday.  Skiing with you was so much fun!  Remember when we both fell over when we were trying to get on the ski lift!  And when my ski fell off at the top of the slope!  That was hilarious!  I hope we can do it again sometime.  Thanks again.

Your Friend,

Olivia

Self-Reflection Part-Two

In the cold, lonely, basement you can feel the deserted room sitting before your eyes. Smelling the dust and wood while you breath in the cold, dry, air gives you such a horrible feel, you almost feel the need to barf. On the rusted, old, wall you can almost hear the dirty water sliding in through the window. And then, if you look down, you see the occasional spider web, and get the horrible feel of a chill shivering down your back on Halloween Night.

Self-Reflection

My best piece is She Worked Out.  My sentences are at a good length, and have good beginings such as ing words, and adverbs.  They also have compound sentences in them, and are very descriptive.  My word choice is good because the words linger in your mind, and they are very descriptive.  I do not have any spelling errors.
A piece that I need to work on is my Sensory details.  The sentence fluency was not very good, because I didn't start sentences with ing words, or adverbs, and most of the sentences started with the. My word choice was ok because I used very descriptive words, but I did not use words that lingered in your mind.  This piece does not have any spelling errors, or grammar errors.
My goal is to work on sentence begginnings.  I will try to use at least one sentence with an adverb or an ing word in each of my blog entries.

Friendly Letter

2/8/06

Dear Meredith,

It was so much fun when we went to San Diego together!  I had a lot of fun at are hotel resort right on the side of the beach.  And remember when we wore our matching swim suites to the pool, and everybody thought we were twins!  That was so cool!  It was really fun when we went to that one shore side restaurant.  What was it called again?  Oh yeah, it was Funky Monkey Burgers.  They had the best food in all of California!  We have to go to that restaurant again together, the next time were in California.
We should get together sometime.  How about Hawaii the n ext time we are together!  That is where my mom is dying to visit, so we could easily get a plane ride and hotel there!  I think it would be a lot of fun.  Let me know if it sounds fun to you also.
Hope to see you soon.  You can call me anytime, my number is 513-821-7702.  You can also write a letter to me.  My address is, 459 Livington Road.

Your Cousin,

Olivia
